The President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Menfi, welcomed the UN Security Council statement on the situation in Libya.

In tweets posted on his official account on the X platform, Al-Manfi renewed his call to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, to reconsider his decision to suspend the political agreement “unilaterally,” stressing the need to address the consequences of this decision.

The President of the Presidential Council also announced the Council’s acceptance of the invitation of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya regarding participation in a national dialogue to address the issue of the Central Bank, on condition that it be in accordance with Article Four, and Paragraphs Five and Seven, of the roadmap issued by the Political Dialogue Forum.

Regarding the elections, Mohammed Al-Manfi added in his tweet that the Presidential Council supports continuing to work on what the 6+6 Committee has accomplished.

Al-Manfi called for resorting to the option of consulting the people regarding the remaining controversial articles, stressing that this represents a means of reaching national consensus, with the aim of holding general elections before February 17, 2025.

The UN Security Council expressed its concern over the recent developments in Libya, calling for an urgent refrain from taking any unilateral measures and reaching a consensual solution to the current crisis related to the Central Bank of Libya.
