Al Mujadila Center and Mosque for Women: Empowering Muslim Women in Qatar

Doha: A special cultural center and mosque for the cultural and intellectual upliftment of Muslim women has become a reality in Qatar. Sheikha Mousa Bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, inaugurated the cultural center named ‘Al Mujadila Center and Mosque for Women’.

Under the leadership of Sheikha Mousa, the new initiative comes into force with the aim of promoting spiritual, educational and cultural research and studies. The model initiative is aimed at Muslim women of all ages and nationalities. The opening ceremony was attended by First Ladies of various countries, representatives of Auqaf Islamic Ministry and academic researchers.

The Center was launched with the aim of strengthening the Islamic identity of Muslim women, recognizing their participation and contributions, sharing concerns and perspectives and facilitating public debate.

Shaikha Mousa, who is also the founder, performed the inauguration in a grand ceremony. The center also has classrooms, a library, meeting spaces, a cafe and gardens. A community space for women, courses, workshops, Islamic history, Islamic law, mental health and well-being, book clubs, training programs and research are set up in Arabic and English.
