The Director of the Ambulance and Emergency Department, Al-Qobba Branch, Khalifa Ahmed Hassan, reassured “citizens that the weather situation in the city is stable this Sunday morning,” indicating that “notifying citizens to evacuate the valleys came as a precautionary measure to preserve the safety of citizens.”

Hassan told the Libyan newspaper Al-Anbaa: “The evacuation decision is a result of the National Center for Meteorology’s forecasts yesterday, Saturday, of the possibility of scattered rain accompanied by thunderstorms in the region from the Gulf and Benghazi Plain to Amsaid.”

He explained that “the ambulance and emergency department is on standby in the event of any emergency within the city, and is constantly monitoring the weather conditions.”

For his part, the Director of the Municipal Guard Branch – Al-Qubba Branch, Major General Masoud Saleh Hamad, stated, “The Guard supervised the process of notifying many citizens living along the course of the city’s valley, of the need to evacuate in anticipation of any expected rainfall in the coming days, and for fear of its flow as previously happened in Hurricane “Daniel”, which led to damage to the homes of many residents.”

He pointed out that “citizens who have been notified of the need to evacuate must refer to the committee assigned by the Quba Municipality, which in turn will provide support and capabilities to citizens who have left their homes.”
