“Al-Shehri” answers • Al-Marsad newspaper

Al-Marsad newspaper: The family doctor, Dr. Saud Al-Shehri, clarified the extent to which a diabetic can use a sweetener with date sugar, and whether it is healthy or not.

Al-Shehri indicated, during a video clip, which he posted on his account on social media, to two things that determine whether the date sugar sweetener is healthy or not: “The first is that he has not entered into industrial processes that harm him, such as what happened with white poison or white sugar, and the second is that he does not raise insulin, meaning no It causes weight gain in a person who maintains his weight and does not raise sugar in a diabetic.”

He pointed out that he does not expect to enter manufacturing processes on the date sugar sweetener that would make it harmful. He continued, “But does the date sugar sweetener raise sugar.. (Yes) because the date sugar sweetener contains fructose and glucose like honey, so using it for a diabetic will raise sugar.” .

He added, “If a diabetic controls his diet and is keen to exercise, he will dispense with insulin and may reach the level of a normal person.”

Concerning the possibility of a person who does not suffer from diabetes using a date sugar sweetener, Al-Shehri said: “An ordinary person whose weight is excellent and an athlete can use a date sugar sweetener in moderation.” Warning against increasing the quantity, noting that it causes weight gain.
