Al-Marsad newspaper: The family doctor, Dr. Saud Al-Shehri, revealed the foods that are prohibited for psoriasis patients, and their alternatives that strengthen immunity.

Al-Shehri said, in a video posted on his Twitter account, “Avoid eating dairy products, meat and eggs, because they contain arachidonic acid, which has an important role in triggering psoriasis,” noting: “Avoid processed foods because they are scientifically linked to triggering psoriasis.”

He pointed out: “Some vegetables are useful, but they are not suitable for psoriasis patients, such as tomatoes, peppers and potatoes, which are inflammatory triggers,” noting: “Avoid alcohol because it is linked to the liver, which is strongly linked to the skin and psoriasis.”

He continued, “Avoid gluten because it has been found that people with psoriasis often have elevated indicators of inflammation associated with gluten.”

On the other hand, Al-Shehri said: “Excellent foods that should be included in the daily diet of psoriasis patients include vegetables, fruits and green leaves, especially berries, because they are among the largest antioxidants.”

He continued: “Broccoli and spinach, and fatty fish such as salmon, which is rich in omega-3, which reduces inflammation and is a wonderful antioxidant, and olive oil is very wonderful because it needs vitamin E, which is a very strong antioxidant, flaxseed oil and coconut oil.”

Al-Shehri recommended supplements that build immunity, such as vitamin D, vitamin B12, selenium, vitamin A and vitamin C, all of which strengthen immunity and regulate the immune function in the body.
