The Minister of Interior in charge of the Government of National Unity, Major General Imad Al-Tarabulsi, chaired today, Sunday, the first meeting of the Supreme Committee for Security Measures formed pursuant to the decision of the President of the Council of Ministers. Ministers of the National Unity Government No. 379.
During the meeting, which was held at the Ministry of Interior in Tripoli, the committee’s tasks were discussed, including supervising the withdrawal and return of all security and military agencies and brigades to their official headquarters, listing all buildings and administrative headquarters under the protection of entities not affiliated with the Ministry of Interior, and working to receive them immediately by the Ministry, in addition to listing private properties that were seized by individuals or entities not affiliated with the Ministry, and subjecting land, sea and air ports to the competent authorities.
The meeting also addressed the need to clear all streets, checkpoints, and security gates of any armed manifestations, and that their work be limited to the Ministry of Interior, in addition to confining prisons and subjecting them to the competent authorities in accordance with the applicable legislation.
The head of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, issued a decision to form a supreme committee for security arrangements, headed by the Minister of Interior, Imad Al-Tarabulsi, and consisting of 16 members.
According to the text of the resolution, the committee’s mission is to withdraw military formations and return them to their official headquarters, in addition to returning private headquarters seized by some formations to their original owners.
The committee’s tasks also include subjecting the ports (land, air and sea) as well as prisons, to full state control.
In his decision, Dabaiba asked the committee to submit a weekly report explaining the work accomplished within this mission.
