The Minister of Local Government of the Government of National Unity, Head of the Government Emergency and Rapid Response Team, “Badr al-Din al-Toumi,” followed during a meeting with the Mayor of Tarhuna Municipality, “Mohamed Al-Kashr,” and members of the Municipal Council, in the presence of the Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs, “Mustafa Ahmed Salem,” and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Company. For Water and Sanitation “Rafik Bolcin”, updates on dealing with the damage resulting from the floods that recently swept the city.
The meeting dealt with “discussing the ongoing work in the city by the ministries and executive agencies of the state, such as environmental sanitation, the General Company for Water and Sanitation, the cleaning companies of Tripoli and Misrata, the Support and Emergency Medicine Authority, other agencies and institutions, and the private sector companies charged with carrying out work in the municipality.”
The Minister reviewed “the initial statements of the results of the damage assessment work, as well as the statements of families who need alternative housing until the radical treatment of their homes is carried out.”
The Minister also followed up on “the measures taken by the General Company for Water and Sanitation related to preserving the safety of well water, whether in terms of sterilization if required, as well as carrying out the necessary analyzes and carrying out treatment operations.”
For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Company for Water and Sanitation affirmed “the company’s commitment to meeting citizens’ daily water needs by strengthening the municipality with additional tanks.”
At the conclusion of the meeting, the mayor of the municipality and members of the Tarhuna Municipal Council praised “the efforts made by the National Unity Government to resolve this crisis through the speed of its interaction and provision of the necessary and required support to the municipality.”
