Al-Zani discusses youth support file with UN mission

The Minister of Youth in the Government of National Unity, Fathallah Al-Zani, received the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Humanitarian Coordinator of the United Nations in Libya, Georgette Gagnon, where they discussed the file of supporting and empowering youth.

During the meeting, “discussions were held on enhancing ways of cooperation between the two parties in a number of files related to the youth sector within the framework of a strategic plan based on the United Nations strategic framework in Libya, which is being worked on in partnership with the Government of National Unity and the Ministry of Youth, which represents the youth sector in this regard.”

Al-Zani presented, “During the meeting, the ministry’s priorities and its national strategic plan to support the national youth movement, especially the youth empowerment file, which included the establishment and election of 83 local youth councils at the municipal level.”

He pointed out “the importance of enabling the largest segment of the country to participate in decision-making and bear responsibilities at the political and societal levels.” For her part, Georgette stressed that “the United Nations is pleased to cooperate in providing the necessary support to Libyan youth through United Nations agencies and funds in several areas.”
