Alabama Dismisses Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. After Arrest for Doxxing Officer

Alabama defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. was dismissed from the football program following his arrest on misdemeanor charges of doxxing and harassing a university police officer. Coach Kalen DeBoer announced the decision on Tuesday, marking the second time in a year the player has been arrested.

Misdemeanor Charges and the Arrest of Dre Kirkpatrick Jr.

The arrest stems from a series of social media posts and messages sent to University of Alabama police officer Christopher Fuerch, who had been involved in an earlier traffic stop and arrest of Kirkpatrick in November 2025. According to court records filed in Tuscaloosa County District Court, Fuerch received a notification on Facebook Messenger around 1:14 p.m. on October 20 while at home. The complaint described the message as profane and demanding that the officer text him back according to local broadcast reporting.

Investigators stated that when the officer went to block Kirkpatrick’s profile, he discovered a photo of himself alongside his wife and two children with the caption Dis him? as detailed in coverage from Yahoo Sports. The deposition noted that the officer felt immediate alarm because of their previous encounter, during which Kirkpatrick had eluded law enforcement during a traffic stop.

The officer told investigators that the online post created severe concern for the overall safety and well-being of himself and his family, citing the substantial audience and public following that Kirkpatrick maintains as a college football player. Kirkpatrick was arrested on Friday and subsequently released from the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $600 bond, facing $300 per charge for misdemeanor counts of harassing communications and doxing according to legal filings outlined by Sports Illustrated.

Kirkpatrick joined the Crimson Tide in 2024. Over the course of 28 total games played across his three seasons with the program, he accumulated 17 tackles and forced two fumbles. Prior to his dismissal, he operated primarily as a rotational reserve at the slot Husky position behind starter Red Morgan, logging 59 defensive snaps with four tackles and one forced fumble during the current campaign. Chuck McDonald stepped in as the primary backup at the Husky spot during the victory over Texas A&M.

The disciplinary action came to light prior to Alabama’s home game against Texas A&M, where the Crimson Tide secured a 31-20 victory on homecoming and coach Kalen DeBoer’s birthday.

After gathering more information on the situation, Dre Kirkpatrick Jr. will no longer be a part of our program. He did not live up to the standards and expectations that I have set for this team and our players.

When addressing reporters earlier in the week during the team’s bye week, DeBoer emphasized that the player was not with the squad and that the situation violated established team rules. The head coach noted that while there were still details to understand, the behavior fell outside how the program operates.

The timing of the suspension created depth issues for the Crimson Tide defense against Texas A&M. When starting Husky Red Morgan was ejected following a targeting penalty on the opposing quarterback, Kirkpatrick was unavailable to step into the backup role as he normally would.

Defensive Back Faces Trial After Leaving Crash Scene

The recent arrest follows a troubled history for the defensive back in Tuscaloosa. A previous arrest led to a suspension for the remainder of the 2025 season, though the trial court records were later marked as confidential.

Police noted on a ticket from June that an officer arrived eight minutes before the driver called to report the crash, and that the driver had left the scene without providing information to the other party. Assistant district attorney Meredith Webb requested body camera and dash camera footage regarding the incident, and a court date is scheduled for November 18 reported by 247Sports.

Kirkpatrick is the son of former Alabama All-American and Crimson Tide standout Dre Kirkpatrick Sr., who was selected in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. The elder Kirkpatrick spent eight seasons with the Bengals before playing for the Arizona Cardinals in 2020 and the San Francisco 49ers in 2021.
