If you are a Twitter user, it is almost impossible to miss the event on Sunday evening. “Alan”, “chicken”, “giga tacos”… these are three words that have been trending all evening on the social network. What is hidden behind these topics of discussion that seem quite disconnected from the news? A live challenge by youtubeur Alan FoodChallenge, accused of faking his videos.

It all started on Thursday when the youtuber Théo Malini, followed by nearly 700,000 people, claimed that Alan FoodChallenge faked his videos. The latter stages himself on his YouTube channel by imposing challenges, each crazier than the other, with food. In the month of June, for example, he filmed himself eating 50 burgers, or even 5 gigas tacos, the equivalent of 16 kg of meat.

Among his arguments put forward, Théo Malini accuses his colleague of discreetly spitting out the food he is about to eat between two bites, and of hiding it by cutting these scenes. With a few effects added during the editing of the video, Alan FoodChallenge subscribers would see nothing but fire.

The youtubeur’s accusations were widely relayed on social networks, and prompted Alan FoodChallenge to react on Friday. In a video posted in Instagram story, he admitted to having falsified “only one” of his videos and having already explained himself on the subject. And to prove that he is not cheating, he had made an appointment this Sunday evening, on Twitch, for a new challenge. Live, therefore, and without possible editing cuts…

A performance far from its so-called standards

We must believe the testing of Alan was expected by many people. As soon as the live was launched, tens of thousands of people logged on to the Twitch platform to follow the event live. The bar of 100,000 viewers has even been largely crossed.

So the audience was there. Alan’s stomach didn’t keep up. After eating a giga tacos and half of another, which is already a very large amount of food, the youtuber ended his challenge. “Well, I’m going to disappoint you, I’m going to stop there,” he announces facing the camera after more than an hour of live.

Proof for many Internet users that a large part of the videos on Alan FoodChallenge’s YouTube channel are well faked. The difference between what he is able to ingest on his challenges filmed at home, like 50 hamburgers, and his evening “performance” discredits him.

In addition, during his live Sunday evening, Alan FoodChallenge admitted to having faked “two” videos from his channel. Two days earlier, he conceded having distorted only one. If the youtubeur intended to win back his audience with this live challenge, the mission seems to have somewhat failed.
