Allan Thomson was the first wicket taker in ODI cricket. He passed away at the age of 76.

The Aussie played in 4 Tests and only one ODI. Thomson made history by taking only one wicket in ODI cricket.

In 1970-71, he played in the 7-Test Ashes series, first in both Tests and then in the 5th and 6th Tests.

The 3rd Test of the series was to be held in Melbourne. But it was canceled due to rain. Thus, on January 5, an ODI match was held between Australia and England in the same Melbourne. It was the world’s first one-day cricket match. In it, Thomson took Boycott’s wicket and took the first wicket of the game and the first wicket of ODI cricket. Thus he entered the pages of history. Thomson scored 22 runs with 1 wicket in 8 overs in the 40-over match. He never played ODI cricket after that. He has taken 184 wickets in 44 matches in first-class cricket.
