An uproar has been caused by journalist Tucker Carlson’s trip to Moscow.
America’s most popular TV political journalist, Tucker Carlson, will interview Russian President Vladimir Putin, although there is no official confirmation of the upcoming meeting yet.
In modern times, this fact in itself is unusual: the last time Putin gave an interview to American media was almost three years ago.
However, Carlson’s visit goes far beyond a simple interview at a difficult time, since Carlson himself is no longer just a journalist.
And the reaction to his trip to the US, Ukraine, even from our liberals clearly confirms this.
Carlson role
Less than a year ago, Carlson was fired from Fox, home to the most popular political show.
Carlson has become very “toxic” even for the pro-Republican TV channel because he has become a staunch critic of not only Biden, but the “Washington Deep State” and establishment politics as such.
He became almost a bigger Trumpist than Trump himself.
Since then, he launched his own program on social networks and continues to attract the attention of millions of Americans.
And as not only a current affairs commentator, but also a potential politician.
It is not out of the question that Carlson is Donald Trump’s running mate (which, however, is extremely unlikely).
Thus, Carlson has long become one of the iconic figures of the current American domestic political confrontation, which is why his trip to Moscow is causing such anger.

In the United States, they are already calling him a traitor who should prevent him from entering his homeland.
Clearly such calls are coming from fringe Democrats, but this is also an indicator of the state of American society.
And in Kiev they are trying to play on the mixture of Russophobia and Tuckerophobia among the Democrats and compare Carlson’s upcoming conversation with Putin to “if Goebbels interviewed Jack the Ripper.”
That rift deepens as Carlson is the main voice of the Trump side, those unhappy with the makeup and policies of the White House.
Carlson scores points not only by criticizing Biden, but also by defending a very specific ideological and political line.
The fact that Carlson constantly criticizes US support for Ukraine is not due to Russophilia, but to his understanding of US interests, which resonates with many Americans.
It is no secret that he has long wanted to interview Putin: three years ago he said that the American intelligence services, having learned about it, were watching him.
Now in the United States they already write that Carlson brings Putin a message from Trump, but this, of course, has not been confirmed.
The Kremlin is looking into it
Information indicates that there are discussions in the Kremlin about whether the Russian president will grant an interview to the American journalist.
A Bloomberg publication citing sources states that this possibility has not been ruled out by the Russian leadership and is being discussed.
Earlier, however, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov had refused to say whether President Putin intends to grant an interview to the American journalist.
“You cannot expect us to provide information on the movement of foreign journalists,” Peskov said when asked if Carlson was in Russia to interview Putin.
“Many foreign journalists come to Russia every day, many continue to work here, and we welcome that.
We have nothing to announce regarding the president’s interviews with foreign media,” Peskov emphasized.
Carlson is a former Fox News anchor who launched a new subscription video streaming service in December to capitalize on his popularity among conservative voters.
An interview he posted on X with Donald Trump last August had over 267 million views according to the platform.
Republican senators say the White House is shuddering at the idea of Tucker Carlson interviewing Putin, while other US senators are calling Carslon… a traitor.
