Three travelers tested in hospital, no measures for other passengers

The three travelers who may be infected with monkey pox and who were taken off the train in Ghent-Sint-Pieters are being tested for the virus at UZ Gent, but the results are not yet known. “No measures are necessary for the other passengers, given the very limited chance of infection, but anyone who would develop symptoms can be tested,” said spokesperson Joris Moonens of the Agency for Care and Health.

The three persons were taken to UZ Gent. They were tested for the monkeypox virus, but the results are not yet known. The other travelers were evacuated and given a brief medical screening and advice. The train was then driven empty back to Welkenraedt, where the aircraft will be cleaned. The incident caused disruption to train traffic in Ghent-Sint-Pieters for half an hour, but everything is now running normally again.
