The overall divorce rate is falling – only late divorces are increasing and now account for every sixth case. The phenomenon is called “grey divorces”; the American sociologist Susan Brown, who came up with the word, even speaks of a “grey divorce revolution” because so remarkably many older people want to start all over again in their private lives – and only for that throw off the ballast of their previous partners.
