Aldi supplier Stute seems to be in trouble. The jam and fruit juice manufacturer has filed for bankruptcy for three of its companies.
Paderborn – The company Paderborn Stute has filed for insolvency for three of its operating companies. The company did not reveal which divisions were specifically affected. The IS Food newspaper that there was a report on it first. The group mainly produces jams, spreads and drinks. Stute was also a supplier to discounter Aldi.
The company blamed the current economic situation for the bankruptcy. Above all, he cited high production costs, increased prices for energy and materials and higher personnel costs. That would make their situation worse, especially in competition with international companies.

The company has now initiated insolvency proceedings for all three companies. They should be done on their own initiative. The consulting and tax audit firm RSM Ebner Stolz plans to provide support in this regard. The “clear goal” is sustainable reform. The company also wants to keep the jobs at the two production sites in Paderborn, reports Food newspaper.
Previously the company had to contend with a decline in sales. In 2011, annual sales amounted to 460 million euros, but in 2021 they amounted to 234 million euros. In addition, the losses increased from nine to 23 million euros from 2019 to 2021.
In response to falling sales, Stute expanded its production – but lost orders from Aldi
To compensate for the losses, Stute expanded his business by bottling drinks. This is said to have particularly affected the business with Aldi. According to industry information, Stute lost the bottling of the Rockstar energy drink from Pepsico and set quotas at Aldi, reported T-Online.
Wilhelm Stute founded the family business in 1885 in Neuenbeken near Paderborn and focused on trading agricultural products and producing fruit syrup. In 1934 he moved to Paderborn, where production takes place.
The weak economy is affecting some companies right now. In addition to the three Stute companies, the baby food manufacturer Yamo, whose products are sold by Edeka and Rewe, had to stop production. Furniture manufacturer MWS Westfalen Werke NDS GmbH also had to file for bankruptcy.
