The family of a Marine who was killed in Afghanistan, Riley J. McCollum, is suing actor Alec Baldwin for $25 million after he accused Riley’s sister, Royce, of participating and taking an active part in the 6/1/2021 Capitol riots. The lawsuit was filed in the Southern District Court of New York.

Riley was one of 13 soldiers killed in a suicide attack in Afghanistan on August 26, 2021 and he was 20 years old when he died. After Riley’s death, Alec Baldwin reached out, via Instagram, and sent her a check for $5,000 to Riley’s widow, Gina, and their child. Baldwin said the check was a “tribute to a fallen soldier,” according to the lawsuit.

Months later in January 2022, the “30 Rock” star began an argument with Royce, the sister, after seeing photos of her taking part in the January 2021 Capitol riots. He accused her of taking part in the riots and “when I sent the money to your late brother, out of respect for his service to the country , I didn’t know where you were in the riots on January 6” – according to the indictment.

Baldwin’s public appeal, from his private account, drew with it angry reactions from his fans who contacted the nurse online, flooded her, threatened her and demanded that they return the money. According to the family, Baldwin did nothing to stop it. In addition, he was accused of writing that Gina, the widow of the fallen, also took part in the riots even though she did not.

This is the family’s second lawsuit against Baldwin, when the first time they went to the court in Wyoming, their state, which rejected the lawsuit and stated that I have no judicial right to judge Baldwin and the lawsuit should be transferred to his state of residence, New York.
