The FBI concludes that the pistol, loaded instead of being a blank, could not fire itself on the set of the movie ‘Rust’

FBI forensic tests have concluded that the gun that Alec Baldwin carried during the filming of the movie ‘Rust’, and which ended the life of the cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins, could not fire itself and therefore he pressed the trigger.

In an interview conducted last December by ‘ABC News’, Baldwin stated that no one had fired the gun. “The trigger was not pulled. I didn’t pull the trigger,” he asserted. The case was classified as an accident by the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator, because “available police reports did not convincingly show that the firearm was intentionally loaded with live ammunition on set.”

Local authorities have not made any charging decisions in the case and police expect to collect Baldwin’s phone records as part of the investigation.

“Admired and loved”

The actor shot 42-year-old Halyna Hutchins ten months ago, in October, when he was preparing a scene with a weapon that should have been a blank but, for unknown reasons, was loaded. Hutchins was shot to death while she was airlifted to Albuquerque University Hospital in New Mexico. In addition, the director of the film, Joel Souza, who was admitted in serious condition to the Santa Fe hospital, was also injured.

Months after the incident, a video of Baldwin’s reaction when he learned of Hutchins’ death was made public. The announcement completely stumped him and he yelled “no!” as he covered his mouth and was silent for a long moment. “Sorry,” was the next thing he heard.

“Someone is responsible for what happened, but I know it’s not me,” he said in the ‘ABC News’ interview. “I would have killed myself if I thought I was guilty, I don’t say that lightly. She was as admired as she was loved », she assured before breaking down in tears when talking about the filmmaker of Ukrainian origin, whose death shook Hollywood.

Baldwin comes from a family of artists who are very popular both in film and on American television. She studied several Political Science courses at George Washington University and acting at New York University and the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute.

Among his most outstanding works are ‘Bitelchús’, ‘Armas de mujer’ and ‘Una novia para dos’, as well as ‘Torrente 5: Operación Eurovegas’, by Santiago Segura. He is also well known for his political activism.
