Alejandro Corcostegui, JPMorgan Chase’s head of infrastructure coverage for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, will leave the US entity after 23 years of service. The banker, son of Ángel Corcóstegui, former vice president and CEO of Banco Santander, was part of Iberia’s investment banking team from 2015 to 2020, with the position of head of mergers and acquisitions for Spain and Portugal.
According to an internal document signed by Avery Whidden and Guillermo Baygual, global co-heads of the bank’s strategic investors and infrastructure group, Corcostegui will leave in early 2025 to take on a project external to the firm, although the document specifies no further details .
A JPMorgan representative confirmed this to the news agency Bloomberg the contents of the memorandum.
Corcóstegui graduated from the Icade business school and, as soon as he finished his studies, started working in London as an analyst at JPMorgan.
The infrastructure transaction market has shown relative resilience in recent times, as investors seek more stable, cash flow-generating assets. This year JPMorgan’s infrastructure group has participated in deals such as the sale of Spanish company Ferrovial’s stake in London’s Heathrow Airport, as well as the sale of German energy metering company Techem for 6.7 billion euros to TPG and GIC, Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund.
