The Spanish singer and composer Alejandro Sanz made a call in the face of the recent unprecedented fires that have devastated some regions of Chile.
From his Instagram stories, Sanz shared with his followers a request for donations from the Desafíos Levantemos Chile organization, through which they can contribute to the recovery of the disasters caused by these incidents.
This series of forest fires has plunged Chile into deep mourning and has especially cruelly affected the Valparaíso region.
More than 120 people have died from this cause, according to Chilean media reports, and more than 3,000 homes have been reduced to ashes.
The news remembers the devastating earthquake of 2010 that left a mark on the South American nation and is considered one of the most tragic events of recent times in that country.
President Gabriel Boric has been visibly affected in recent days and has declared two days of national mourning. The president recently pointed out the seriousness of the situation and assured that his government will take proactive actions to confront this disaster that has Chile dismayed.
Boric issued a message to the nation where he stated that “we are facing a tragedy of very large magnitudes” and that he made the decision to maintain the curfew and reinforce the presence of the military in the most affected areas.
Valparaíso experienced one of the most terrible nights last Friday, the day these disasters began. At first it all started with small fires in forested areas, but they quickly spread, becoming a deadly threat to urban areas and devastating entire communities.
Among the most affected cities are Viña del Mar and Quilpué, where flames have devoured entire neighborhoods. Precisely towards these areas, the Ministry of the Interior has mobilized approximately 1,400 firefighters, who have been joined by military personnel and thousands of volunteers.
Regarding the reasons for these fires, the reports give suspicion of certain intentionality due to their “simultaneity and strategic location.” Some media have launched the theory of “a criminal hand” behind them.
For his part, the Chilean president promised to act immediately and bring the full weight of the law to bear on those who have contributed to this catastrophe with their actions.
