“They are selling these gummies with marijuana, we must be aware of our children. It generates a high degree of intoxication.” Messages of this caliber, accompanied by an image of rubber bands, generated an alert this Tuesday in several WhatsApp groups and soon went viral on social networks.
Indeed, as can be seen on the packaging of the alleged gums, it is a product called “Trrlli” that contains bear-shaped gums. The particularity is that in the lower left part of the package there is an image as a warning with the representative figure of the marijuana leaf. The foregoing, to indicate that the gums contained THC, one of its psychoactive components.
However, the Ministry of Health of Bogotá, the city where the chain went viral, warned that so far there have been no reports of minors intoxicated by the consumption of the alleged gums in educational institutions in the capital.
For its part, the Aldor company –specialized in the manufacture of candies and gums– issued a statement from Cali in which it warned that the alleged marijuana gummies that went viral simulate one of its brands: “Trolli”. In this sense, they expressed their concern and rejected any action that could affect the health and well-being of children.
They even announced legal actions. “We proceed immediately to file a criminal complaint so that the authorities proceed to investigate these facts and manage to identify and prosecute those responsible.”
Additionally, they defended that their rubber brand has existed in the country since 1994, that it is “very loved by Colombians” and that it has been characterized by its quality and innovation. “We call for buying our products at trusted outlets, as well as checking and making sure the brand is correct.” For this reason, they recalled that their product is characterized by its multiple forms and its logo in magenta and violet colors.
For its part, the organization “Échele cabeza” – a project that seeks to generate and disseminate information on psychoactive substances – spoke out and assured that these types of products are illegal in Colombia.
In countries like the United States – where the sale of products with THC is endorsed – health authorities such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have generated alerts for the “accidental ingestion by children of products foods with THC.
