This was announced by the Colombian Geological Service, which indicated that the Ruiz presented this week its activity increased from 6,500 events on March 28 to at least eleven thousand events the next day.
According to the entity, the volcano could erupt in a matter of days or weeks, so he recommended being alert.
However, he stated that this is the lowest seismicity of the last twelve years.
The experts indicated that in the event of an eruption it would reach Pereira, Manizales and northern Tolima.

The head of the Risk Management Unit in Caldas, Félix Giraldo, made a call to the communities of Caldas that are located near the rivers and streams that are born in the upper part of the volcano so that they are attentive to the official information of the authorities.
The official said that the alert can go red in a matter of minutesas well as the volcano may relax again with the passage of time and pass the yellow level.
Among the protocols to be adopted in that area are the closure of the National Natural Park Los Nevados and the evacuation of the areas surrounding the volcano, particularly the riverside areas or ravines.
Giraldo explained that “it must be taken into account that the Nevado del Ruiz Volcano has a latent threat, which is the glacier in an upper part and that glacier can generate avalanches Because it can freeze, likewise these avalanches can cause major damage, as happened in 1985.
