Chronically ill people are often victims of discrimination at work, warns the Defender of Rights in an investigation published this Thursday and which “Les Echos” reveals exclusively. To try to remedy this problem, the independent administrative authority is calling on companies to better train recruiters and carry out awareness campaigns. She also calls for strengthening the rules for job adjustments.
More than four in ten active chronic patients say they have experienced at least one situation of discrimination or discriminatory harassment in the context of their job search or career. For comparison, only a fifth of the rest of the general population reports these difficulties, underlines the survey carried out with the International Labor Organization.
