Alex Darío Aguinaga, one of the most important figures in Ecuadorian football, predicted that Ecuador could well reach the semi-finals of the next Copa América to be held in the United States.

“In the case of Ecuador, we have used the Copa América as a laboratory for us to work thinking about what the qualifiers are and qualifying for the World Cup. Now it is time to think about winning it,” commented one of the greatest Ecuadorian football figures, along with the late Alberto Spencer.
When asked by journalists about Ecuador’s chances in the Copa America, Aguinaga predicted that the Tricolor will make it to the Semifinals. And as for the tournament champion, the national representative says that it will be either Argentina or Brazil.
