Spanish MotoGP rider Álex Rins will leave LCR Honda at the end of the season and will be Fabio Quartararo’s new partner on Monster Energy Yamaha, as announced by Yamaha shortly after making the departure of Italian rider Franco Morbidelli official. “Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. is pleased to announce that Álex Rins will join the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team for the 2024 season with Fabio Quartararo“Yamaha announced in a statement after Morbidelli’s departure.
Rins, currently injured, joined LCR Honda this year from the now-defunct official Suzuki team. With the Honda he won, by surprise given the poor results of the Japanese firm’s riders, in Austin, at the Grand Prix of the Americas. In his long career, the Barcelona rider has numerous victories in the premier class and in lower categories (6 wins in MotoGP, 4 in Moto2, 8 in Moto3) and podiums (18 in MotoGP, 17 in Moto2 and 23 in Moto3, 58 in total).
Yamaha Motor Racing CEO, Lin Jarvis, assured that he was “delighted” to have Rins in his ranks for the next MotoGP World Championship. “We expect Alex to be a great asset. He has extensive experience as a MotoGP rider and is known for his natural talent and for having won several races in the MotoGP class,” he highlighted.
“He already has experience with two other MotoGP manufacturers and has ridden bikes with similar characteristics to the YZR-M1, which should help him quickly adapt to our bike. His victory at Circuit of the Americas earlier this year underscores his speed, hunger and determination to succeed“, he added.

Morbidelli has not been able to make any podium in the official Yamaha team, to which he arrived in the middle of the 2021 season from the Petronas Yamaha SRT satellite team, to which he arrived in 2019 and where he did shine and became runner-up in the MotoGP world in 2020, with 5 podiums and 3 victories included.
In total, the Italian has contested 74 Grands Prix as a Yamaha rider to date, but in the last two seasons, including this one, he has not been able to find the key on Iwata’s mount.
