Former television judge Alexander Hold says he is suffering from prostate cancer. “I was like most people – you suppress the possibility of a serious illness,” explained the current Vice President of the Bavarian State Parliament and member of the Free Voters on his website on Friday. “The impact that such a diagnosis causes is all the greater,” added the 62-year-old.

The malignant tumor would have to be surgically removed in April. “The carcinoma has already grown so close to the neighboring nerves that the operation will be challenging,” explained Hold. “But I am very confident about the future.” However, he will not be able to show “the usual presence” for a longer period of time.
Hold urged regular check-ups. “Whether it’s breast, urology, colon or skin cancer – please get preventative care, early and regularly,” explained Hold. “The earlier something is detected, the better the chances of recovery.” For him, too, the discovery of cancer was the result of a routine examination.

Hold has been a member of the Bavarian State Parliament and one of its vice-presidents since November 2018. He already ran for the office of Federal President for the Free Voters in 2017. The lawyer became known through the pseudo-documentary court show “Judge Alexander Hold”, which was broadcast on Sat.1 from 2001 to 2013. To this day, the program, which attracted over three million viewers in front of the screen at peak times, is regularly repeated on Sat.1 Gold.
