The rector of the National Sports Academy Prof. Krasimir Petkov met with basketball star Alexander Vezenkov to congratulate him on his successful first season with the Sacramento Kings team in the National Basketball Association – NBA, the sports university announced.
With a wish for new successes, Prof. Petkov presented Vezenkov with souvenirs of the National Academy of Sciences and the masterpiece of the world classic “The Little Prince”, and in turn received a basketball with the autograph of the famous basketball player.
Vezenkov is a fourth-year student at the Faculty of Sport and visited the Academy in connection with his studies. His training is carried out individually, like all elite athletes in the National Sports Academy, and his tutor is Associate Professor Mariana Borukova. The basketball player has repeatedly stated how much Education at the Academy is important for him: “My training here is the first step of my future plans – to become a good and successful coach after the end of my sports career”. Because of his attitude to education and his spectacular sports successes, Alexander Vezenkov was chosen as the face of the NSA candidate student campaign.
The basketball player also took time to see the museum exhibit at the Educational and Olympic Center, for which he made a valuable donation last summer – the Olympiakos team, with which he played in the Euroleague final. During class, his fellow Basketball students were extremely intrigued to chat with the world-class athlete and get autographs and selfies with him.
During his visit, the basketball player was accompanied by his father, Sasho Vezenkov – former executive director and head coach of BC “Lukoil Academic”, also a graduate of the National Academy of Sciences.
