A champion in athletics returned to the stadium with a victory.

Alexandra Nacheva won the triple jump with a score of 14.01 meters at the “Plovdiv” tournament. This is the first competition for the athlete after nearly a year’s absence from the track (since last July) due to injury.

The health problem caused the woman from Plovdiv to undergo an operation in Italy. After the surgical intervention, Alexandra spent a period of rehabilitation with the former track and field athlete Simone Kolio, who is the husband of the great Bulgarian sprint star Ivet Lalova. At the end of last month, they became parents of a boy named Tiago.

Nacheva needs another 37 centimeters to ensure her participation in the European Championship. The competitor of coach Stoiko Tsonov can also find a place in the Bulgarian team for the upcoming Olympics in Paris, but for this purpose she must meet the standard of 14.54 m.

On July 15, 2018, Nacheva won a gold medal at the under-20 world championship in the Finnish city of Tampere. In this way, she became the first Bulgarian athlete to achieve this, after the success of Tezjan Naimova in 2006 in the same age group.

Alexandra became the second Bulgarian competitor in this sport to win a youth gold medal in the triple jump, after Teresa Marinova (14.62 m) in 1996 in Atlanta.
