The owner of Agriculture, Víctor Villalobos, and the Algerian ambassador Djamel Moktefi They highlighted the opportunity that represents strengthening ties of collaboration in sfood safety.
When they met, they addressed the issue of crops with low demand for water resources, innovation and technology in irrigation and greenhouse systems, and updating the Cooperation Agreement in Plant Matter y Plant Quarantine.
They pointed out that in the period 2019-2023, the main Mexican export products to Algeria were wheat, chickpeas, dehydrated yeasts, uncrushed pepper, long grain rice, unroasted or decaffeinated coffee, fruits and edible plant parts, juices and vegetable extracts.
At the meeting they also highlighted the efforts to implement actions in the agricultural sector between Mexico y Algeria, such as the development of training modules in production, transformation and agroecological characterization of the nopal. Algeria will seek greater business with Mexican firms.
