Algerian threats against Moroccan companies are “pure and crude populism” (media)

by times news cr

“This declared and publicly assumed hostility is unprecedented in the recent economic history of the Maghreb countries,” the publication observed in an analysis entitled “He violently attacks the CAAR and the SAA because of a Moroccan software package: Tebboune’s dangerous populism!”.

The author of the article described as “unique” the press release recently published by the Algerian presidency in which it openly attacks several Algerian economic companies by singling them out for their “relations described as troubling, immoral, even illegal with foreign partners who are affiliated with lobbies hostile to Algeria.”

“Worse than an ideological propaganda document, the Algerian presidency’s statement mixes economics with politics by sharply criticizing the two largest public insurance companies,” he denounced.

He said that these are the Algerian Insurance and Reinsurance Company (CAAR) and the Algerian Insurance Company (SAA), recalling that the El-Mouradia Palace had given a maximum period of 10 days to the general management of these two state companies to break off all collaboration with a Moroccan company for “the simple reason that Morocco is officially considered the enemy of the Algerian state.”

He recalled that SAA and CAAR have been using, for years, a software package developed by a Moroccan company, specifying that this software package, equipped with powerful capacities in the field of insurance, thus allows a decentralized management of technical insurance operations and in a continuous manner.

“The success of this Moroccan software package has clearly worried the Algerian regime,” said the media outlet, which points out that in its press release, the Algerian presidency spoke of sensitive Algerian data that risked leaking and ending up in the hands of lobbies hostile to Algeria, such as the “enemy neighbor, Morocco.”

He said that the Moroccan company only manages internal and technical functions of insurance companies, wondering how this company can really represent any danger against national security in Algeria?

He explained that the Algerian experts did not present any alarming diagnosis because it is a complete application which allows to carry out several tasks very specific to a precise field of activity which is Insurance.

According to the media, the Algerian Presidency, which “confuses economic logic and ideological propaganda, is thus dangerously compromising the functioning of the two most important state insurance companies in the country.”

He reveals that the software package is developed by a Moroccan company based in Rabat and specialized in the design of software modernizing the management of insurance companies and insurance brokerage firms.

This Moroccan start-up has made this software package its flagship product which “has enjoyed international success”, explained the same source, recalling that the first Algerian company to have used this software package in 2006 was CAAR which chose ORASS to enable it to manage technical insurance operations in a continuous decentralized manner.

SAA then followed in the footsteps of CAAR in an effort to modernize the internal management of its assets and the processing of its clients’ files.

The two Algerian companies are not the only ones to have set their sights on the Moroccan software package, he points out, noting that at the African level, 18 life insurance companies have chosen this software package to manage the end-to-end information system for the life and capitalization branches.

Since 2020, no fewer than 50 insurance companies in Africa have been using the Moroccan software package to manage their internal IT system from end to end, he adds.
