Last night, a fire broke out in a family in Ansoumanyah plateau, at the cement factory, under the urban commune of Kagbèlen.

During this disaster, 10 children from the same family, including a pregnant woman, died in a two-bedroom building, in front of their parents who were also fighting for their survival.

It all started with a short circuit at 1 a.m. according to the unbreakable father.

“It was around 10pm that I came home yesterday. I found, as usual, that many of my children were already in bed. The second youngest of my children was still in my room playing with the phone. When I realized that it was 11pm, I asked and insisted that he also go to his room, considering that it was getting late. On my way, my son said to me at the door before going out “goodbye”, I did not understand anything” informs the father of the family Alhousseiny Touré in tears.

Continuing, he added: “It was around 1am that my wife woke me up to tell me that there was smoke in the children’s room. I opened my room to try to access the living room but the smoke was enormous. That’s how I called my neighbours to come. Thanks to their help, the window of my room was broken. That’s how I was able to be saved with my wife and my baby who was about a year old. Then, they went to the children’s room but they were only able to save one of my children who is also in intensive care at the hospital. The others, ten in number, went to sink into the shower, that’s where they died. For now, we have ten bodies under our feet. All the victims are from the same family. Here, there is only me and my family,” he explained.

Regarding the origin of the fire, Alhousseiny Touré emphasizes that it is difficult to determine responsibility.

He said it took the help of neighbours to extract the 11 victims, including 3 boys, 6 girls and a pregnant woman.

After several phone calls, the firefighters from Kaloum to Kagbelen found only the bodies under the ashes.

“When we saw that things were not going well, we called the fire brigade.
But some numbers, it went through. When it rings, some don’t pick up. A colonel had to call and the firefighters had to come from the city. But before they came, it was found that the population, the neighbors had made a lot of effort. It was found that they had tried. We have the fire under control now,” said Abdoulaye 3 Camara, a witness to the events.

On the scene, the President of the Special Delegation alerts the population to avoid tragedies caused by short circuits

“There is an increase in fires. What I can do, I appeal to everyone, to the entire population of Kagbèlen and Guinea to be vigilant and careful, to be calm. And in the face of this fire, I think we must take measures when we return, ensure that the power is turned off, the light bulb and that they unplug everything. And if the installations are old, call the technicians and have them replaced,” advised Colonel Kalidou Diallo, President of the special delegation of Kagbèlen.

The bodies of the 11 victims are currently in the morgue of the mosque in the area and one last child is in critical condition.
