Sivagangai: In Sivagangai, family welfare judge Muthukumaran ordered a one-month jail sentence for the husband who did not pay alimony to his wife.

Murugeshwari filed a case in Sivaganga Family Welfare Court seeking alimony. During the trial, the judge ordered that wife Murugeswari should be paid alimony at the rate of Rs.5,100 per month.
But he has not paid alimony for more than one and a half years. When Murugeshwari petitioned again, Sivaganga family welfare judge Muthukumaran ordered her to pay Rs.40,800 to the court. Even after that, he cheated by not appearing in court. He was ordered to issue a warrant. Thiruvadan police produced Pasupathi in court yesterday.
He sentenced Pashupati to one month imprisonment for not paying maintenance to his wife. Subsequently, he was imprisoned in Madurai Jail.
