São Paulo beat Corinthians 2-0 this Wednesday (16th), at Morumbi, and qualified for the final of the Copa do Brasil. In the decision, Tricolor will face Flamengo. After the match, defensive midfielder Alisson gave an interview and made a point of thanking the support of the more than 62,000 fans who attended the stadium on Wednesday night.
“I want to thank every fan who came here today, who encouraged us from the moment the bus arrived until the last minute of the game. We could never let this classification escape, for everything they showed, for the wonderful party they made. From the beginning, when we arrive here at the stadium and see the celebration that the fans have, there is no way you can not run in there and do your best for them”, said the player.
Alisson also highlighted the strength of the squad, which managed to reverse the disadvantage against San Lorenzo, in the Sudamericana, last Thursday (10), and against Corinthians, in the Copa do Brasil.
“Congratulations to everyone, we knew it would be a very difficult game. Corinthians came from a strong sequence, but the group worked and concentrated on what they could do today. We know that we still have a lot to do, today is the time to celebrate another comeback, because you come against San Lorenzo, you come against Corinthians, two teams that are very difficult to beat, value a lot, but there are two more games to go that we can give this title to the fans”, said the midfielder.
Now, São Paulo faces Flamengo in the final of the Copa do Brasil, which will be played on September 17th and 24th (dates that have yet to be confirmed by the CBF). For the Brasileirão, Tricolor’s next commitment is against Botafogo, this Saturday (19), at 4 pm, in Morumbi.
