Alejandro Moreno Cardenas y Carolina Viggiano will register this Monday as candidates for re-election in the national leadership of the AT; if they are the only ones to register, next Wednesday they would be the elected leaders for the period 2024-2028.
To date, no other PRI member has announced that he will participate in the process of renewing the national leadership; on the contrary, at least four former national leaders challenged the reforms to the statutes that will allow Moreno, known as Alito, seek re-election.
The call for the National Commission for Internal Processes provides the steps to follow in the event that only one formula is registered to direct the ATThe document indicates that registrations will open this Monday, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., in the hall Alfonso Reyes from the national headquarters of the tricolor.
The document states that “in the event that only one list of candidates is registered or if the registration of only one is appropriate, the subsequent phases of the internal process, including the internal process period and the elective session, will be void of material.”
The calendar indicates that this Monday is the registration of the candidates, while on Tuesday the opinions will be analyzed and issued, so that same day it will be known if Alito Moreno y Viggiano were the only ones written; under this scenario they would be declared elected leaders for the period from 2024 to 2028.
“The person holding the title Internal Processes Commission will declare the formula elected and on August 11, 2024 the declaration of validity of the internal electoral process will be issued, the certificates will be delivered and the oath will be taken,” the call states,
The National Electoral Institute (INE) has not yet declared the validity of the reforms to the statutes of the AT, which opened the possibility of re-election, and the Electoral Court of the Judicial Branch of the Federation as well as the Commission of Party Justice have pending challenges regarding the issuance of the call.
