Tomorrow the World Cup in trampolining and tumbling begins in Baku.

As reported by İdman.biz, the International Gymnastics Federation devoted an article to the tournament, which will become the stage of Olympic qualification.

“Just 12 weeks after the World Championships in Birmingham ended the 2023 international season, Olympic qualifying for trampoline is back in action at the World Cup in Baku on 22-25 February, with the world’s best entering the fray.

Tokyo 2020 Olympic champions Zhu Xueying (China) and Ivan Litvinovich (Neutral), current world champions Bryony Page (Great Britain) and Yang Langue (China), and 2022 world champions Mori Hikaru (Japan) and Dylan Schmidt (New Zealand) ) top the list. All world champions and Olympic champions crowned during the 2020-2024 Olympic cycle are participating in Baku.

There will be no shortage of applicants. In individual trampolining, the younger generation is represented by athletes such as Gabriel Albuquerque (Portugal) and Mariam Rahimovi (Georgia), while more experienced Pan American Games champion Angel Hernandez (Colombia) and Olympic finalist Daphne Navarro Loza (Mexico) will be strive to make a strong impression.
All members of the French men’s team – world champions Julian Chartier, Morgan Demiro-o-Domiro, Pierre Gouzou and Allan Morante – are registered to participate in the competition in Baku. The incredible strength of the Chinese team will be demonstrated by world medalists Wang Zisai, Fan Xinyi and Hu Yicheng, each of whom has demonstrated limitless capabilities in previous competitions.

China is the only country that sent synchronized trampoline specialists to Baku in the form of the women’s pair Cao Yunzhu and Zhang Xinxin and the men’s pair Fu Weijian and Zhou Jie. 2023 world synchronized champions Fabian Vogel and Kaio Laukstermann (GER) and Nicole Asinger and Sarah Webster (USA) will also be in the running for more gold.

The small but powerful field of competitors in the tumbling competition includes current world champions Mikhail Malkin from Azerbaijan and Candy Briere-Vetillard (France). 19-year-old Tofig Aliyev (Azerbaijan) showed his mettle to help Azerbaijan win their first world team title in Birmingham, while France’s Manon Morancais and Maiwenn Prevot will be looking to top it all.

At the 2023 World Championships in Birmingham, only five countries each qualified for the men’s and women’s competitions in Paris. This weekend’s competition in Baku will serve as an Olympic qualifying event, with gymnasts able to earn Olympic points based on their rankings, dating back to last year’s World Cup in Coimbra.

The two best results at the end of five stages of the World Cup will be taken into account and will be counted in the overall Olympic ranking. However, only the three highest-ranked athletes in the final Olympic qualifying rankings are eligible to claim second place for their country in Paris 2024, provided the respective NOC has already earned a quota for the 2023 World Championships.
A total of 16 men and women will compete in the trampoline program at the Summer Games, with the World Cup offering the largest number of qualifying spots for Paris.”
