All for the Earth is not just a slogan

Today and tomorrow the captains of the Serie A football teams (but in reality the captains of Verona and Bologna started yesterday at the Bentegodi) enter the field with a strip dedicated to climate change. On a green and blue background, reminiscent of the planet Earth, it is written above EarthDay, the day that we have celebrated every year since 1970 on April 22nd. They do because April 4th Green&Blue threw one petition to the Football League. The result was not just one symbolic band. The president of the League Lorenzo Casini has made a commitment to accompany the ecological transition of the clubs; the president of the footballers’ association Umberto Calcagno has decided to bring this issue to the next assembly on Monday 24 April to have all the players adopt responsible and exemplary behavior from a climatic point of view; and the Sports Minister Abodi went much further imagining for all sport a driving role for the ecological transition and announcing that all sports facilities will have to become “energy communities”, thanks to renewable energy plants that produce the energy necessary to make them work, starting from best known of all, the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Why say it by presenting the next one Green&Blue Festival? Because dealing – by profession and by deep conviction – with climate change and sustainability, this little story is exemplary of how we interpret our work: we try, through data and science, through stories and examples, to produce changes. To change, if you will allow the pun, climate change. Help turn the tide.

With this spirit we make the Festival 2023 starting from the consideration that apparently there is very little to celebrate on the subject with the very little that most countries are doing compared to what would be necessary. And then a bad wind of climate denial is blowing in our parts again, more subtle because it does not deny the problem, but minimizes it, it tells us “what’s the hurry…”. We respond to this by rallying the best scientists and activists, the companies and politicians who don’t do it greenwashingand the people who practice this breakthrough every day: from 5 to 8 June, from World Environment Day to Oceans Daywe will all be together to prove that “A Land for All” it’s not just a slogan that works, but a possible goal. And we won’t get there because we are afraid of the end of the world, but because we will have convinced even the skeptics that a better world for everyone is the planet we want to live in. We have the resources and we have the technologies to do it. And we have the people. It’s time to commit. All for the Earth.
