During the regime of Sheikh Hasina, every institution of the country has been destroyed, said the chief adviser of the interim government. Muhammad Yunus. He made this comment in a courtesy call on Tuesday (September 10) with the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Bangladesh, Irma van Duren. The Dutch ambassador went to meet him at the State Guest House Yamuna in Dhaka.

In the meeting, the Dutch ambassador expressed full support to the interim government of Bangladesh on behalf of his country and said that the Netherlands is interested in strengthening relations with Bangladesh in various fields including agriculture, marine resources, industry, youth, knowledge-based economy, labor, environment and flood management.

Yunus thanked the Dutch ambassador and said that he has a long personal relationship with the country including the leadership and business community of the Netherlands. He sought the cooperation of the government of the Netherlands in the implementation of the interim government’s ambitious reform program.

He also said that every institution of the country has been destroyed during the dictatorial regime of Sheikh Hasina.

Emphasizing the importance of building new institutions in Bangladesh. Yunus said the current government is committed to implementing important reform programs in every area – education, economy, labor sector, election commission, judiciary, civil administration and business environment.

Irma van Doeren noted that she would urge the country’s businessmen to bring more Dutch investment in a number of promising sectors, including agriculture, water and renewable energy.

The Rohingya crisis also came up in the discussion. At that time, the chief adviser said that Rohingya children growing up in the shelter camps of Cox’s Bazar should be given education and training in such a way that their future is bright.
