All four models of the iPhone 17 series will receive LTPO displays. This was reported by the South Korean publication ETNews with reference to an industry source, Day.Az reports with reference to Gazeta.ru.
While the source did not specify whether future iPhone 17 models will have a high refresh rate, the use of LTPO technology means they will feature ProMotion displays with dynamic refresh rates of up to 120Hz.
Apple has been equipping its flagship smartphones with LTPO screens, starting with the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max introduced in 2021, while base versions, including the current iPhone 16, come with regular 60Hz OLED displays.
ProMotion displays make animations, screen scrolling, and other content appear smoother. In addition, the technology allows you to reduce the refresh rate to save energy from 1 to 10 Hz depending on the model, instead of the usual 60 Hz, which allows you to use Always-on Display with the time and notifications displayed on the lock screen, even when the device is locked.
