What about Bordeaux airport?

In June, the small Irish airline Ryanair announced that it would close its base of operations in the French city of Bordeaux in November after failing to reach an agreement with the airport regarding costs.

The airline operates flights to and from 40 different regions around Europe from Bordeaux-Merignac (BOD), which by 2023 is the eighth busiest French airport with 6.6 million passengers. each year.

The head of route development for the airport, Cyrielle Clément, told Actu France “Our first proposal is to acquire a large number of destinations that Ryanair operates only. Regarding others, we work hard to identify companies that better get over it”.

Clément admitted that “in one year, it is not possible to recover all the passenger volume, but we can meet the demand with some frequency.”
