BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that ‘all the demands of the quota reformers have not been met’ and the movement will not end unless there is a political solution to the ongoing crisis.

Stating that BNP’s support for the quota reform movement is ‘still there’, BNP Secretary General said that our support for the quota reform movement was there and still is. Their eight-point demand has not yet been met. Not only the quota reform, but the other demands must be fulfilled by the government.

He made these comments in a statement sent to the media on Thursday (July 25) morning.

The BNP General Secretary said that the ongoing movement has not ended despite the flow of events and said that the ongoing movement has not yet ended like in the past. There have been many movements in the past, the movement may have slowed down at one point, but then it picked up speed again. Now the movement is an eye opener. In this movement, common people have come down on the streets. A curfew has been imposed to prevent them. We want the curfew to be withdrawn for the sake of people’s peace.

Fakhrul said that the accumulated anger of the people was expressed in this movement against the Awami League government due to the failure in all aspects including the fight against corruption and not keeping the economy in order. It will not end without a political solution. The political solution is for the government to resign and hold an impartial election under an impartial government.

BNP Secretary General said, since the curfew, the government is very consciously trying to prove that Tariq Rahman is responsible for all the agitation and vandalism! From this it can be understood that they are saying these things to degrade and destroy the image of Tariq Rahman and divert people’s attention and at the same time blame BNP and blame the opposition party.

Mirza Fakhrul said that the government is not talking about the problems of the people and the government is not talking about the hundreds of lives lost in this movement. They say that if someone is injured, they will see him and try to treat him if necessary. But it is completely the responsibility of the government; In such an incident, whoever is injured, the government has to take care of his treatment.

In the statement, he said, the biggest problem of this government is that they have no relationship with the people and they have no accountability. That’s why they never understand the language of people’s eyes and mind. They have no choice but to stay in power. Our main demand is that – elections under neutral government.

Mirza Fakhrul said that the accusation of sabotage against BNP by the government is baseless and said, “We are with the movement and supporting sabotage is not the same thing?” The government wants sabotage here. There is no time in the forty years of BNP’s history that BNP has attacked the state establishment, created any problem there. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said in a statement that BNP has never attacked any state establishment in all the agitations that have taken place till date.
