Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Assistant Secretary Zahid Hasan has been accused of physically assaulting and insolent behavior with some employees.
Those against whom the complaint is being talked about, are the leaders and workers of different levels of the proposed committee of Nationalist Workers Union of Dhaka North City.
Meanwhile, half a hundred officials of DNCC, including Zahid Hasan, have submitted a written request to DNCC Chief Executive Officer Mir Khairul Alam to take legal action against the perpetrators.
These incidents have been reported from the sources of Dhaka North City Corporation.
In the letter, Dhaka North City Corporation Assistant Secretary Zahid Hasan demanded proper legal action against those who physically abused and misbehaved. Threatening to physically assault the room.’
In the letter, it is said – ‘Last September 25 at around 3:30 pm, Dhaka North City Corporation Region 3 employee Sheikh Shawkat Hossain (License and Advertising Supervisor) and Md. A group of 10/15 agitated employees led by Farhad Hossain (clean inspector) entered the room of Zahid Hasan, Assistant Secretary. Later, with the intention of physically assaulting her, he pulled her by the collar of her shirt and proceeded to hit her. At that time, Dhaka North City Corporation’s security officer, social welfare officer and assistant manager (transport) who were already present in his room were forcefully thrown out of his room.
It is said in the letter–‘Then Md. Zahid Hasan, Assistant Secretary was verbally abused and threatened with death. Other employees of that office were also mistreated. Also, they are creating a frightening situation by going to their rooms and pressurizing and threatening to kill the officers and employees working in different regions to collect unethical benefits. Which is disrupting the fair working environment of Dhaka North City Corporation and the officers and employees of Dhaka North City Corporation are living in fear of assault cases. In this situation, our request is that we demand strict legal action against these identified employees and to ensure the working environment.’
In this regard, the Chief Executive Officer of Dhaka North City Corporation, Mir Khairul Alam, said, “I have heard about the officials applying.” However, I have not received the application yet as I am away on official work. Action will be taken in this matter if received.
According to Dhaka North City sources, on August 25, the information officer of Dhaka North City, Piyal Hasan, was also beaten up and thrown out of the city building of Dhaka North City. On that day too, this official was beaten up by members of the committee proposed by the Nationalist Workers’ Union. It is said that even though all the higher authorities knew about this incident, no action was taken at that time.
