Witness Accused of Being Unregistered Foreign Agent and Arms Trafficker, Raises Questions in Biden Family Probe

The long-anticipated witness, who was touted by Republicans as a missing link in their probe into alleged corruption by the Biden family, is now facing serious allegations. Gal Luft, a dual U.S.-Israeli citizen, has been accused of being an unregistered foreign agent for China and an international arms trafficker. He is also alleged to have violated U.S. sanctions on Iran and lied to investigators, among other federal charges.

Luft had already skipped bail while in Cyprus, waiting for extradition to the U.S. for a separate case in March. He claims that the case against him is motivated by political persecution and retaliation by the Biden administration.

The House Oversight Committee had previously emphasized the existence of a secret informant who could provide evidence of a potential “quid pro quo” deal involving foreign aid between an Obama-era Biden and an unnamed country. However, details of this arrangement remain unclear and unverified.

The credibility of these claims was called into question when Republican Representative James Comer held a press conference in May, promising to expose the preliminary findings of four months’ worth of scrutiny into the Biden family’s business dealings. Despite failing to present any tangible evidence of corruption, Comer’s excuse was that their star witness had disappeared.

In an interview with New York Post opinion columnist Miranda Devine, Luft revealed that he had been hiding out in an undisclosed location after being arrested on charges related to arms dealing across the Third World and violation of the Foreign Agents Registration Act, among others.

Despite these serious allegations, Comer continues to defend Luft’s credibility and claims that he provided incriminating evidence to six officials from the FBI and the Department of Justice. Comer also tweeted on Friday that there is no reason to believe that the authorities acted on this information.

Republican Senator Ron Johnson further supported Luft, stating that he should be granted immunity to testify and share his story.

The charges brought against Luft on Monday further add to the list of alleged crimes, including his involvement in brokering arms deals with Chinese businesses without a valid U.S. license. The Justice Department alleges that Luft traded various weapons, including anti-tank launchers, grenade launchers, mortar rounds, aerial bombs, rockets, and drones to countries like the United Arab Emirates, Kenya, and Libya.

Additionally, Luft is accused of lying to U.S. law enforcement during interviews about his involvement in arms trafficking. He is also alleged to have brokered deals for Iranian oil in violation of U.S. sanctions, falsely labeling it as “Brazilian.”

If convicted, Luft could face a maximum of 100 years in prison, as he currently faces 36 charges, according to the Justice Department. As this case unfolds, the credibility of the witness and the allegations against the Biden family will continue to be scrutinized.
