New elements of the tourist submersible that imploded in June in the North Atlantic were recovered in early October, as well as other “supposed human remains”, announced the US Coast Guard.

The “Titan”, a small submersible about 6.5 meters long, submerged on June 18 to observe the remains of the Titanic and was supposed to return to the surface seven hours later, but when not even two hours had passed, contact with the equipment was lost.

Therefore, a rescue operation was launched in search of the passengers.

The teams discovered that the ship had imploded shortly after submerging, which caused the instant death of the five passengers, including Stockton Rush, owner of OceanGate, which owned the submersible.

The recovered elements were sent to a port in the United States for analysis, the Coast Guard added in a statement published on Tuesday, which details that American and Canadian researchers were on board during the transfer operations.

At the end of June, the first remains were found on the seabed, approximately 500 meters from the remains of the Titanic and almost 4,000 meters deep, off the coast of Newfoundland (Canada). They also recovered possible human remains.

The most famous ocean liner in the world sank in 1912 after colliding with an iceberg on its maiden voyage between England and New York with 2,224 people on board, 1,500 of whom died.
