The Dutch septuagenarian suspected of having fired on his British neighbors on Saturday evening, killing an 11-year-old girl, in Plonévez-du-Faou (Finistère), was indicted and imprisoned for assassination and attempted assassination, announced Monday June 12 the public prosecutor of Brest.
The respondent and his wife, placed under the status of assisted witness and left free, were “positive for alcohol and cannabis at the time of their placement in police custody”said the magistrate, Camille Miansoni, during a press conference in Brest.
“On a strictly judicial level, these are people with no criminal record”underlined the prosecutor, adding that two weapons as well as cannabis ” degraded “ in the form of“dried grass” were found at their home.
Seriously injured parents
The Dutchman is suspected of having fired on the British family at around 10 p.m. on Saturday evening, killing their 11-year-old daughter and seriously injuring the parents. The couple’s second daughter, 8, managed to escape. According to the first elements of the investigation, the retiree “came up suddenly, with a gun” and shot the family who were in his garden.
The Brest prosecutor confirmed that a “old neighborhood conflict, an exasperation”, pitted the Dutch couple against their British neighbors. There was “a lot of pruning work, clearing”who from the point of view of the indicted and his wife, “troubled their peace”added the magistrate.
