Allocation of Rs. 103 crore for renovation of traditional buildings Dinamalar

Madurai: Rs 103 crore has been earmarked to restore and preserve the oldest public buildings in Tamil Nadu without changing their uniqueness.

Last April in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Chief Minister Stalin announced that Rs 100 crore would be allocated for the preservation of heritage buildings through the Public Works Department. Subsequently, the government has announced an allocation of Rs.103.74 crores to protect 17 buildings at the state level. Rs 5.50 crore has been allocated for the building of Madurai district Cholavanthan Arasanshanmuganar Higher Secondary School, Rs 2.20 crore for the colonial bungalow in Ramanathapuram district, Rs 1.80 crore for the Periyakulam district court in Theni district. Similarly, funds have been allocated for buildings in various districts including Chennai, Tiruvannamalai, Pudukottai, Kanyakumari.
