The Obukhov plant (part of the Almaz-Antey concern) has already delivered 55,000 transponders designed by it for driving on toll roads to the Avtodor state company, the press service of the concern reported.

A transponder is a device for non-stop travel through toll booths on toll roads. The device is mounted on the windshield and is read by an antenna installed at the point, its service life is, according to data Avtodor, five to seven years. Previously, the state company’s transponders were supplied by the Austrian company Kapsch, but in 2022 it suspended cooperation.

Last year, the Obukhov Plant developed its own transponder, having signed a contract in October 2022 for the production and supply of devices to Avtodor. The company also developed software and created a product design. In June 2023, the customer received over 20,000 finished transponders.

“The domestic version of this equipment complies with all international standards and at the same time has less weight than foreign counterparts,” commented Mikhail Podvyaznikov, general director of the Obukhov plant.

This year, the plant plans to conclude a new contract for the supply of transponders, he added.

Earlier, the government extended Avtodor’s activity program until 2030. According to Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin, during this period Avtodor will build and reconstruct more than 1,400 km of roads. Vyacheslav Petushenko, Chairman of the Board of Avtodor, in turn, said then that the portfolio of the state-owned company now has more than ten projects. Among them is the backup of the Dzhubga-Sochi road, the South-Western Chord, the implementation of which will unload the roads of the cities of the Black Sea coast.
