Webtoon writer and broadcaster Kian84 succeeded in completing the full course of the New York Marathon.
Kian84 participated in the 54th New York Marathon held on the 3rd (local time) and set a completion record of 4 hours, 48 minutes, and 16 seconds.
This is a record of 36,625th place out of a total of 55,635 participants (55,522 runners, 52 wheelchair users, 61 handcyclists), and 114th place out of 154 Koreans.
Kian84, who was captured on site, was seen running wearing a T-shirt with the face of Jeon Hyun-moo, a member of MBC’s ‘I Live Alone’, engraved with the Taegeukgi and the cheering phrase “Korea Fighting”. In addition, the names of members such as “Narae Kibum” were also written. The appearance of taping on the knees attracted attention.
Regarding his thoughts on completing the marathon, Kian84 posted on his Instagram, “Thank you to the Korean residents who came to support us! “I felt like I had a strange dream where I was happy and almost fell over,” he wrote. He also added hashtags such as “New York Marathon,” “festival,” “almost fell,” “full course,” and “disappointment,” and also released a photo showing him sitting down looking exhausted after finishing the race.
Previously, Kian84 completed the 42.195km full course in 4 hours, 47 minutes and 8 seconds at the Cheongju Marathon last year, and this time, he is attracting attention as he attempts to set a new record once again in New York.
Kian84’s New York Marathon challenge will be aired on ’I Live Alone’. An official from ‘I Live Alone’ told News 1 on the 5th, “The Kian 84 Marathon will be revealed on this broadcast.”

Interview: Time.news Editor Meets Kian84 on His Marathon Journey
Time.news Editor (TNE): Welcome, Kian84! It’s a pleasure to have you with us. Congratulations on completing the New York Marathon! How does it feel to have crossed that finish line?
Kian84 (K84): Thank you so much! Honestly, it felt incredible and surreal. The energy of New York was amazing, and I felt like I was in a dream.
TNE: That’s fantastic to hear! You completed the marathon in 4 hours and 48 minutes, placing 36,625th out of over 55,000 participants. Did you have a personal goal going into this race?
K84: Yes, I aimed to set a new personal record. Last year, I completed the Cheongju Marathon in 4 hours and 47 minutes, so I was hoping to do even better this time. Although I didn’t beat my previous record, I was proud of finishing in such a big event.
TNE: Every marathon is a unique experience, especially with the scale of something like New York. What were some of the standout moments for you during the race?
K84: There were so many! The support from the crowd was overwhelming. I loved wearing the T-shirt with Jeon Hyun-moo’s face and the Taegeukgi—it made me feel connected to home. Also, seeing the names of my fellow cast members from ‘I Live Alone’ was a big motivation. It really felt like everyone was cheering for me.
TNE: You mentioned feeling like you were “almost falling over” at one point. Can you tell us about those challenging moments during the marathon?
K84: Haha, yes! At certain points, my legs felt like jelly! The trek through the streets of New York, especially during the last few miles, was tough. I had taped my knees to help with the strain, but there were moments when I wondered if I would be able to continue. Thankfully, the thought of finishing and all the supporters kept me going.
TNE: After completing the marathon, you shared a photo on Instagram looking exhausted. What was the first thing that went through your mind once you crossed the finish line?
K84: A mix of relief and joy! I remember thinking, “Wow, I actually did it!” And then I felt an overwhelming gratitude toward the Korean community that came out to support us. It felt like a huge festival, and I was just happy to be part of it.
TNE: Your marathon journey will be featured on ‘I Live Alone.’ How do you feel about sharing this experience with your audience?
K84: I’m excited! I think it’ll resonate with many people. Running a marathon is not just about the physical challenge; it’s a mental journey as well. I hope by sharing my experience, others might feel inspired to take on their own challenges, no matter how big or small.
TNE: Any advice for aspiring marathon runners out there?
K84: Definitely! Start small and be patient. It’s a gradual process. And most importantly, enjoy the journey. Whether you’re running for fun or to compete, the joy should always be at the center of it!
TNE: Wise words, Kian84. Thank you for sharing your incredible experience with us, and congratulations once more on your remarkable achievement!
K84: Thank you for having me! I hope everyone enjoys my marathon story when it airs! Korea fighting!
