The 20 reforms that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador sent on February 5 to the Chamber of Deputies will no longer be discussed in that legislature, considered the president of the Political Coordination Board in San Lázaro, Jorge Romero (PAN).

“I say it with chronological arithmetic clarity, it is practically impossible, but also, that it is not a surprise (…) it is noticeable when the majority wants to express things like Afores, like protection, like amnesty and it is also very noticeable, when not,” he said at a press conference.

He added that despite the forums and debates that were organized both in the Lower House and in different venues in the national territory, they were not in vain, since White Papers were generated to continue with the issues.

Romero considered that the presidential initiatives that are not necessary, even though they will no longer be discussed, are “dead.”

“What is obvious is that in the LXV Legislature it is practically impossible, beyond political decisions, practically impossible for them to emerge, the White Papers remain.

“And as we have said (…) to the PAN, beyond the authorship we are interested in the content, if the content is good for the country, regardless of who it comes from, we are interested in supporting it, we have done so regardless of who the author is. Author, if the contents are toxic, they are retrograde, because of course the PAN is going to defend Mexico from that of those votes in that package,” he emphasized.

However, he pointed out that next week it is possible that they will debate and vote on other minutes from the Senate such as the “silla law”, the 30-day bonus and the extension of paternity leave.
