He has been making Bappa with his own hands for Ganpati festival since childhood. He also keeps sharing his love for Bappa and his making on social media. Rakesh believes that it is his good fortune that every year Bappa blesses him with the skill of making himself. These are those relaxing moments for him when he forgets every question. Rakesh also believes that the meaning of life is to recognize the abilities or gifts that God has given you and share them with others. This is the reason why he openly shares his talent of Ganpati making with others. He has also taught artists like Rithvik Dhanjani, Karan Wahi, Tejasswi Prakash in the industry to make Ganpati, who are now also carrying this chain forward. Ritwik-Karan are taking forward the chain of Ganpati making
Two close friends from TV, Rithvik Dhanjani and Karan Wahi have made 12 idols of Bappa for this Ganpati festival. Rithvik, who considers this time as the best day of the year, says, ‘These are the most beautiful days of the year for me, when I forget everything and leave everything aside and get busy making Bappa’s idol. This is the therapy of my life. The good thing is that during this time many people also come to learn from me. A month before, I start getting calls from many of my friends saying that I am also coming. Teach me too and I want to say that whoever wants to come and learn with me is welcome. It is my good fortune that I can teach as many people as I can. They don’t even need to bring anything. I bring all the material, clay etc. for them.’
‘You just have to take out some time and come, you come, I will make it for you, because I want people to understand that this is not just a festival. It also has a very deep impact on the environment. You see, how much pollution happens in those 11 days which spoils the entire eco-system, so I want that the more this thing spreads, the better it is. Believe me, if the whole family, the whole neighborhood starts coming together 10 days before the Ganesh festival, then the community experience that will happen, this festival will become something else for you and the purpose of bringing Bappa is also that everyone celebrates together.’
Celebrate and be responsible too
Many other actors of the industry also bring eco-friendly Ganpati while celebrating the festival and fulfilling their responsibility towards society and environment. These include Shilpa Shetty to Ritesh Deshmukh-Genelia. In the past years, Ritesh-Genelia along with their children Ryan and Rahil had made Ganpati Bappa from paper and other recycled household items. Similarly, actress Juhi Parmar makes unique and cute Bappa every year for her daughter Samaira from flour and vegetables. Apart from these, Gurmeet Choudhary-Debina Banerjee, Arjun Bijlani, Ankit Bathla, Kamya Punjabi, who is currently seen in the TV show Ishq Jabariya, etc. also bring eco-friendly Bappa and also make others aware by posting about it on social media.
