MK Avi Dichter was elected today (Tuesday) to serve as a member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Counter-Terrorism Committee. The vote was secretly held by representatives from 32 countries around the world.

After his election, Dichter said: “I am proud to take part in advocating for Israel’s security policy in the international arena. My election by the nations of the world is another recognition of our long war on terror and another step in our national advocacy struggle.”

The Inter-Parliamentary Union’s Counter-Terrorism Committee convenes twice a year to discuss terrorist incidents taking place around the world and common ways of combating them. Its members are representatives from the houses of parliament of Austria, Kenya, Rwanda, Bahrain, Egypt, China, Pakistan, Thailand, Switzerland and more.
