REGINA, Saskatchewan – It took a miraculous run from Davis Alexander with 30 seconds left on the clock, but the Alouettes took on many challenges to beat the Roughriders 27 to 24 in hostile territory on Friday afternoon in Regina.

This is the fifth win in as many games abroad for head coach Jason Maas’ team since the start of the season. The Alouettes also broke a team record by winning their eighth consecutive road duel, including the feat that ended the 2023 season.
Acting as Montreal’s offensive pivot throughout the game, Alexander finished the game with 22 completions in 33 attempts for 285 yards through the air.
Placements failed
Beyond the final push by the Alouettes quarterback, four field goals by Roughriders kicker Brett Lauther made the difference, including the last one from 48 yards with just six seconds left.
James Letcher Jr.’s impressive 128-yard return clearly put to the end zone on one of these field goals that Lauther missed in the Alouettes’ victory.
At the top
With a 9-1 record, the Alouettes sit atop the Canadian Football League East Division, ahead of the Ottawa Rouge et Noir (6-2-1).
However, a win for the Ottawa team against the Stampeders on Thursday night in Calgary helped keep the standings fairly tight. However, the Rouge et Noir will not have an easy schedule between now and the end of August with two games in two weeks against the Lions ready to roar after quarterback Nathan Rourke returns to British Columbia.
For the Alouettes, the next home game will be held on Sunday, August 25, against the Edmonton Elks.
